3 Skills Great Influencers Have

…and how to practice them in your own life

There are currently 22 thousand YouTube channels with more than a million subscribers. How did they get there?

Cultivating these three things in your life will naturally and inevitably lead you down the path of success not only on YouTube, but anywhere you choose to go:

1. Consistency in Content Creation

The ability to show up for yourself and your brand on a consistent basis is the number one ingredient to success on whatever path you choose for yourself. If you think of growing a flower, it cannot bloom without consistent water, consistent sun, and consistent care.

And you are the same thing as that flower, just a little more complicated since you can walk around and stuff.

But the essence is still there: if you’re not showing up every week, every month, every year, you cannot fully bloom.

I’ve found establishing good habits as one of the number one things that helped me gain consistency in my content creation.

Creative Tip: Atomic Habits by James Clear was a super booster for my ability to set new habits quickly. HIGHLY recommend if you’re looking to improve exponentially in your consistency.

2. Naturally Integrating Product Placements

The operative word here is “naturally”. Partnering with brands (and other creators) who align with your beliefs and brand is integral to your success long-term.

I guess you could consider this “good at selling,” but the best influencers know it’s more nuanced than that.

Simply put: You’re playing the long game. You’re not taking deals that don’t align with your core values, because that will ultimately show through in your content. Audiences are wicked smart and know when you’re not speaking from your heart. While taking a quick brand deal can be great in the short-term, it can hurt in the long run if it’s not aligned, so instead, try to think as long-term as you can.

The most successful influencers are being called to be more aligned than ever with how they are approaching branded work.

This might look like: going inward to gain a better understanding of your personal goals and unique life mission, or it may mean experimenting with different kinds of content until something really resonates with yourself and others. It’s worth taking the slower route in favor of authenticity and integrity. Always, forever.

Keep in mind the “overnight success” trope is a myth because if you rise too quickly without fully developing your character in other areas, the very fact that you rose quickly can cause a mess long-term. Find peace in a slower more intentional route because, while it’s less sexy, it builds you a foundation that will last a lifetime. Patience!

Creative Tip: The book Blue Ocean Strategy by W. Chan Kim is a business book that will help inform your personal path, and is one of the best business books out there, IMO.

3. Personal Magnetism

This one is the most seemingly intangible, subjective, and based on personal resonance, yet there is something to be said about being universally magnetic to others.

Magnetic people are a form of inspiration; it’s another way of saying: you exude the energy that other people want to see (and maybe cultivate in their own lives).

Whether it’s a booming personality, or a quiet and contemplative approach to life, there is something about the way that magnetic people carry themselves that makes others say “I want to see more from them.” This is personal magnetism.

How do I become more magnetic?

I’ve found that having the courage to follow my unique life path has created more magnetism in my own life.

Practically, this has meant setting boundaries when something is hurting my energy or simply taking too much from it, and it can also mean meditating and journaling every day, working out, taking care of myself in the best way I know how.

Treating my body, spirit and mind as part of a creative instrument, ultimately used for the creation process, has helped me align with my divine assignment and become more “magnetic’ in the process. More simply, self-confidence in your unique path creates ultimate magnetism.

Creative Tip: A great example of someone cultivating their magnetism (and it eventually handsomely paying off) is The Surrender Experiment by Michael Singer . Warning: May cause serious inspiration!!
