After I decided to try veganism, I went to Trader Joe’s for the first time trying to restock my pantry with only vegan food.

I came home massively discouraged. I had no idea what I was doing.

All I knew is that I wanted to feel better and I felt called to cut out dairy and gluten, and I had never really liked meat in the first place.

So…. vegan it was!

But along with that came the social backlash.

Being misunderstood is something that will happen to you if you choose the road less taken in anything.

Heres the truth: Apart from the first grocery store trip, people’s projections of what I must be thinking and feeling is the actual hardest part of being vegan at first.

Actually eating vegan is easy compared to that.

Here are a few things vegans wish you knew!

1. We don’t care what you eat.

I started eating vegan because my body was semi-allergic to dairy and gluten and I didn’t realize it. It was a very personal journey!
