3 Life-Changing Books By Oscar Winners
Lights, camera, personal growth!
These books are more than just stories; they’re a roadmap to unlock your creativity, expand your mindset, but let’s be real…they’re also an entertaining peek inside the mindset of an Oscar winner.
How do Oscar winners stay creative? How did they realize their dreams?
1. “The Artist’s Way” by Julia Cameron
This is one of the best books you can read on creativity itself!
Julia Cameron, winner of an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the film “The Piano,” will take you on a 12-week creative journey / program to unlock a new level of creativity and overcome creative blocks like no other. Every human should read this book, honestly.
Here are some of my favorite quotes:
“Creativity is God’s gift to us. Using our creativity is our gift back to God.”
“Creativity requires faith. Faith requires that we relinquish control.”
2. “Will” by Will Smith
We all know Will Smith won an Oscar. But before all that, Will Smith has always been one of my favorite comedy actors.
…but he can also make me cry. (I dare you to YouTube the last 4 minutes of the Pursuit of Happyness and try not to 😭).
In his book “Will,” he candidly chronicles his rise to fame, his struggles, and his philosophy on life.
Here are some of my favorite quotes:
“You don’t set out to build a wall. You don’t say, ‘I’m going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that’s ever been built.’ You don’t start there. You say, ‘I’m going to lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid.’ You do that every single day, and soon you have a wall.”
“I realized that to be successful, I had to be willing to do things that nobody else was willing to do.”
3. “Greenlights” by Matthew McConaughey
Matthew McConaughey is one entertaining storyteller!
Like most other readers, I read this book in 1 day.
It’s a collection of personal stories, reflections, and life lessons that encourages you to embrace life’s challenges (red and yellow lights) and find meaning in the green lights along the way.
Here are some of my favorite quotes:
“Life is not fair, it never was and it never will be. But life can be generous.”
“Success is not a destination, it’s a process. It’s about continually chasing your own potential, day after day.”
“Life is a series of commas, not periods. Embrace the pauses, the detours, and the unexpected turns.”
