I’ve been editing videos on YouTube for around 8 years, and these are some things that I did at the beginning of my journey to find traction and create a business I really love!

1. Discover your Niche 🤍

Find your niche as a video editor. What types of videos do you like to watch? What do you like editing? Knowing your strengths allows you to approach clients who need those skills.

2. Get Organized 📆

Video editors manage their own time and projects. Staying organized is crucial to success!

  • I love Notion for tracking all edits,
  • and Calendly for new client meetings or
  • Typeform to intake new clients.

Manage appointments, deadlines, and meetings with a system that works for you!

3. Set your Rates 💲

Don’t let pricing be your Achilles’ heel.
When you’re just starting out, do a little detective work to see what other editors are charging. As you gain experience and your expertise grows, don’t be shy to up your rates. You’re worth it!

4. Market Yourself 🤳🏼

Become your own marketing tool!
Promote your business through social media and networking. The more people you reach, the easier it’ll be to find new clients.

5. Create a Demo Reel 🎬

Build a strong 1–2 minute demo reel highlighting your best work and unique style. Post it on your website along with a Calendly link to have future clients schedule with you if they loved what they saw.

🎁 Bonus: I created 10 free done-for-you aesthetic video editing templates that you can use over and over again! They’re included in the free Viral Checklist! 🎬 Download the Viral Checklist here

Use your Viral Checklist to check every edit for viral potential, keep it simple, keep it real, and watch your content take off!!
