I’ve worked from home for about 8 years now, and these are my holy-grail 3 best tips to help you unwind in a slow, low effort, supportive way:

1. Get back into your body.

Since we engage a totally different skillset to get our work done online, it’s important to disconnect from that in a physical way afterwards.
Personally I love cooking or stretching and yoga because it helps me be present, while also engaging me back in my physical surroundings.
Other ideas: Stretching, reading, a shower/bath, skincare routine, go for a walk, make tea, etc. Make it simple, low effort, and relaxing.

2. Be done. Don’t check / respond to email at night.

Boundaries! I love boundaries. Before I had them, I found that the more available I was during nighttime hours, the more people needed to get ahold of me during the nighttime! Weird!
I changed this by simply not emailing at night.
Now that I don’t email back at night, people adjust their expectations and don’t expect my response until the morning. It was actually that simple!

3. Plan the top 3 things for tomorrow, today.

This can take less than five minutes, just write down 1–3 things you want or need to work on tomorrow, and leave it at that.
Tip: Write your daily intentions on a post-it note, then picture yourself successfully doing them, and finally, walk away and don’t come back to the list until the morning. *Don’t try to accomplish too much, because if you do that too many times in a row, it leads to burnout.

What tip are you going to try to implement more? 1, 2 or 3?
