I’ve noticed recently more editors are ditching Adobe Premiere. I’ve also noticed what everyone is jumping TO instead. If you’re looking for the best software as a beginner or experienced video editor, editing for platforms like YouTube, these are (no surprise) my favorite editing resources lately and into next year.
🎬 Best Free Video Editor (for PC or Mac): DaVinci Resolve
A pro-level software that is gaining in popularity lately, and that beginner and advanced editors both love, is DaVinci Resolve. It competes with Adobe’s Premiere and Apple’s Final Cut Pro in terms of capabilities while also being very user friendly… and it’s free! 🎬 DaVinci Resolve benefits beginner to experienced editors most.
🎬 Best Free Video Editor (for Mac): iMovie
iMovie comes built into your Mac computer, and has tons of features for effects, sounds, transitions, and color grading, while being very user-friendly for beginners. 🎬 iMovie benefits beginner video editors most.
🎬 Best Online Video Editor (for PC or Mac): Veed.io
I’ve been using Veed.io for captioning and I’ve stumbled upon all the other features it has which I think are great for an online video editor. Apart from it’s amazing AI captioning, you can add graphics, transitions, fun text, effects, basic color grading, and a lot more.
🎬 Veed.io benefits beginner editors most.
🎬 Best Video Editor for Mac: Final Cut Pro X
I love Final Cut Pro because it’s capable of doing anything I can think of while I edit, is incredibly reliable (I’ve never lost a project due to crashing), and it gives you lifetime upgrades to new features and future versions which I’ve loved for the past 8 years. You can try Final Cut Pro free for 90 days here, and for some free lessons, check out my Final Cut Pro tutorial playlist on YouTube here. 🎬 Final Cut Pro benefits beginner to experienced editors most.
