My Honest Review After 3 Years of Purple Carrot
Is it REALLY the best vegan meal delivery box?
When it comes to meal delivery boxes, I need it to have three things.📦
Here’s what matters most in a meal kit to me:
✅ The food has to taste good & the portions need to feel generous
✅ The recipes need to be easy(ish) to make (with fresh, local ingredients)
✅ The app should be simple to use & make it easy to skip weeks
I’ve tried a few of the big ones — HelloFresh, Green Chef — and they just didn’t check all the boxes. (Missing ingredients, not enough vegan options etc.)
Purple Carrot is the only one that delivers on all three — and I’ve been using it weekly for three years now. 💜🥕
It got me out of a cooking rut
I was making the same 5–10 meals on repeat.
Purple Carrot gave me fresh ideas and inspiration every week — without having to scroll Pinterest for hours or go grocery shopping and over-buy ingredients.
I’ve learned how to cook so many new things
It’s taught me actual cooking techniques I didn’t know before.
I now know how to make couscous, quinoa, rice, and all kinds of veggies in multiple ways. I’ve cooked with ingredients I never would’ve reached for on my own.
It helped us try different types of food
Trying new meals each week has helped us develop new tastes.💁♀️
I had no idea butter beans were so good. They have no business being that good tbh.
Now I’ve got a whole rotation of favorite recipes we reorder — and we still try new ones all the time.
It saves me time (without losing the fun)
I love cooking — it’s a creative, grounding outlet for me to get back into my body after a day of editing videos.
But I don’t always have time to plan meals, write out ingredients, and run to the market. Purple Carrot just shows up at my door. 🙏
It’s a ritual for me and my husband
We both get excited about the meals each week!
It’s become something fun and grounding we do together — taste-testing, trying new things, rating the recipes, and just enjoying good food.
The app is super easy to use
It’s very easy to choose meals in the app each week. You can also skip weeks with ease.
I also like grabbing extras from their plant-based pantry (called the Plantry). I even discovered one of my favorite vegan cheeses through them and ended up ordering a whole box from that brand later.
I’ve just gotten more confident in the kitchen
After three years, I can say: I’m a better cook and more relaxed.
I’ve gone from feeling stuck in a food loop to actually enjoying the process again — and getting a little creative with it.
If you’re thinking about trying it out, here’s my link — it gives you $50 off your first box. 👩🍳
